Boats, open water and comradery – who could ask for anything more?

Fairfield Harbour Yacht Club members have a variety of reasons for choosing to live in Fairfield Harbour, including a full-service marina, two smaller marinas, and a great many waterfront homes with the advantage of having your boat at your own dock. You can stay close to home and enjoy a sunset cruise in the Inner Harbour, or on Upper Broad or Northwest Creek. Depending on the time available, you can take a trip to New Bern or Oriental for lunch or anchor for one night or several days in many of the offshoot creeks along the Neuse River. You can venture farther to Ocracoke or Cape Lookout. Fairfield Harbour can be a launching point for trips to the Chesapeake Bay and Maine, or to Charleston and Florida, or even the starting point for all or part of a Great Loop cruise, as several of our members have completed.

Sailboat racing: Tuesday afternoon fun racing features a relaxed pursuit start and post-race camaraderie. Dinghy and Sunfish racing is on Sunday afternoons and our one-design Ensign fleet races on Thursdays.

Social Activities: Impromptu raft-ups held monthly are always a hit, as was Trivia Night in October, which found 50 contestants on seven teams answering fiendishly trivial questions in six nautical categories.

Education seminar: Boating skills for women was held on Friday, November 10.

November starts our season of giving. Club members selected Salvation Army Angels for whom providing Christmas presents is our club’s longstanding tradition. The toys are donated at the annual FHYC Christmas Party held on December 14.

At our November meeting, members will sign up for 2018 committee work and hear the Nominating Committee’s recommendations for Bridge and Board members to lead our club forward.

Our club installs new members on a regular basis, with our membership co-chairs, making every new member feel welcome in our club. If you are interesting in joining the FH Yacht Club, contact us at information@fhyc.us .
