Downtown New Bern open for business

Within days of the storm there was a common theme all over town: Open for business. Friends, neighbors and complete strangers from nearby communities and across the country came together to get New Bern up and running and help restore a sense of normalcy. Social media is covered with photos of these efforts along with a new catchphrase: #newbernstrong. Southern hospitality and historic charm are alive and well in New Bern, NC

Downtown ArtWalk:

ArtWalk continues Friday, October 4, from 5 to 8 p.m. in downtown New Bern. The ArtWalk location card, includes 28 businesses and the BirthPlace of Pepsi, Cravin’ Wine and Tryon Palace.

Special Events:

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain hosts an “Autumn Affair” fundraiser to a Community Dinner Event on Saturday at the New Bern Farmer’s Market on South Front Street from 6:30 to 10 p.m.

Tryon Palace October

  • Fall Garden Lovers’ Weekend: Oct. 12 - Oct. 14.

  • Tryon Palace gardens will be open for free during MumFest, with hundreds of mums and a variety of fall blooming plants throughout the 16 acres of gardens.

  • Outlander at Tryon Palace tour is set for 9:15 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. on Oct. 20. Fans of the Outlander series can now follow Claire and Jamie’s footsteps in North Carolina as they visit Tryon Palace.

Bank of the Arts, 317 Middle St., New Bern

  • Craven Arts Council and Gallery continue its signature “At the Gallery” concert series at 7 p.m. on Oct. 20 with the music of Otis Redding, performed by the Middle Street band.
