Fairfield Harbour Yacht Club April Activities

Let the games begin!! FHYC is ready to roll. Here is a partial list of April FHYC activites.

Friday, April 13 - Educational Seminar on Local Waters.

Location: Activity Center Room 2

When: 0900 – 1200 on Friday 13 April.

As every boater knows, obtaining local knowledge is an important part of a safe and enjoyable boating experience. In this educational seminar presented by the US Coast Guard Auxiliary, you will receive detailed information about the Neuse River and adjoining waters. You will learn the locations and features of many popular anchorages, marinas, and boatyards in the Neuse and Pamlico River basins, as well as the ICW to Morehead City/Beaufort and on to Cape Lookout.

Saturday, April 14 - Commissioning Day and Blessing of the Fleet

This highly anticipated event represents the official start of the boating and racing season for Fairfield Harbour Yacht Club (FHYC) members.The parade proceeded up Spring Creek and into the Inner Harbour for the Blessing of the Fleet. After the parade, boats returned to their slips/docks. Crews reconvened at the Shoreline docks where the Commissioning Day Ceremony commences at 1130 hours at the flag pole. The American flag is raised in recognition of FHYC officers, directors as well as past and current commodores. An 18” cannon is fired and a wreath is placing in the water to honor deceased members of FHYC. A celebratory lunch follows at Red Sail Park.
