Vivian Howard's 'A Chef's Life' takes home 1st Daytime Emmy Award for best culinary

Vivian Howard's four star restaurant is a culinary delight for all who have the pleasure of dining there. A TV celebrity in her own right, Vivian made a name for herself and Kinston.

"A Chef's Life," the PBS TV series starring chef Vivian Howard that celebrates Eastern North Carolina and its culinary traditions, has won its first Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Culinary Program.

The Southeastern North Carolina culinary program was nominated for three awards.

Celebrity chef Vivian Howard will bring a Daytime Emmy home to Kinston this week after the show claimed the Emmy for “Outstanding Culinary Program.”

“A Chef’s Life,” which follows Howard and her family through the adventures of owning and running her now three restaurants in Kinston and Wilmington, beat out other award-winning culinary programs for the Emmy. “Giada Entertains,” Lidia’s Kitchen,” “Mind of a Chef,” and “Valerie’s Home Cooking,” were all nominated for the category.

Howard accepted the award with director Cynthia Hill.

Howard was also nominated for “Outstanding Culinary Host.” Hill was nominated for “Best Directing in a Lifestyle/Culinary/Travel Program.”
