Although the weather is nippy this week in Fairfield Harbour, golf season never really ends at Harbour Pointe Golf Club (HPGC). Eastern North Carolina often has mild winters and Harbour Pointe members golfed many days during the winter with temperatures in the mid 60s. Spring is just around the corner and HPGC has an array of golf events that are sure to get you itching for more golf.
2018 Irish Open: Saturday, March 17
With a bit of Irish luck, you could win big at the 2018 Irish Open at Harbour Pointe Golf Club. Set for a 10am shotgun start, the Superball format has prizes for longest drive on hole 12, closest to the pen and overall winner. Prizes are gift certificates from the Pro Shop. So come on out - rock your green hat, green shoes and a green polo and see how low your score can go! Cost: $30/members, $35/advantage card holders and $40/public
Par 3 Masters Challenge: Saturday, April 7, 8am
Can’t bear to miss the Masters on live TV but still hankering for your Saturday golf game? HPG has the plan to get you psyched for the Masters. The Masters Challenge is set for April 7, with an 8am tee off time, par 3 and 18 holes that put you home in time for the big game. Cost: $30/members, $35/advantage card holders and $40/public
Glow Ball: Friday, April 13, 8pm
Glow Ball is a popular par 3, “after dark” event where mini glow sticks are inserted inside a hard plastic ball. Tee off and watch them fly down the fairway like a streaming comet. Glow Ball is played on the back nine and the course is lit up for your viewing pleasure. The Glow Ball performs at 75% it normal value but the excitement of playing after dark and the comradery is unbeatable. You can sign up for single, double or foursome. Cost: $20/members, $27/public
Harbour Pointe Grill
Harbour Pointe Grill, nestled inside the pro shop at Harbour Pointe Golf Club, is a perfect place to grab a bite to eat after a round of golf or anytime you are in Fairfield Harbour. Harbour Pointe Grill presents a robust menu of breakfast items and American pub-style lunch entrees. A full breakfast or simple breakfast sandwiches are served all day. Daily lunch specials range from the popular shrimp burger to chicken cheese steaks. Standard lunch items consist of hamburgers, hotdogs, fries or specialty BLTs. Harbour Pointe Grill offers monthly wine tasting where appetizers, finger food and desserts are paired with unique wines. These events sell out quickly – so get your tickets early. Special events are held regularly inside the pro shop or on the porch and often include live music. Bar items consist of beer and wine. Hours: Monday-Saturday, 8am-2:30pm. Sunday, 8am-1pm (with limited menu).
