Junior Golfers get the competitive edge with Harbour Pointe Golf Club

Harbour Pointe Golf Club’s general manager and professional, Dan Argentieri, served as coach of the Junior PGA Golf League this past spring and summer. Coach Dan is shown here with team member and Harbour resident, Aiden Hansen, who was also named to the Team New Bern All-Star team.

The spring and summer of 2017 marked the fourth consecutive year of participation of Harbour Pointe Golf Club’s team in the PGA Junior League led by coach Dan Argentieri. Junior PGA League Golf is an excellent way to introduce kids to competitive golf. The format plays a pair of golfers from both teams to compete for nine holes. The four players all take their respective shots and then decide which is the better shot for their team to play to help win the hole. This format allows stronger and more experienced players to be paired with newer players. This in turn builds teamwork as all players are encouraged to communicate and help decide things such as which shot to play and club selection. A substitute player from each team can also be included in each group but can only be rotated in after every third hole.
