Fairfield Harbour has two 9/11 ceremonies

8:30 am: Fairfield Harbour hosted a 30-minute ceremony on Monday, September 11, starting at 8:30 am. It was keyed to the time of 8:46 am when the first plane hit.

Speakers recounted the events of 9/11 and told their personal encounters. Fairfield Harbour resident, Cathy Monid’s told the story of her son's escape from Manhattan. 7:00 pm: Rain or shine, a brief 9/11 memorial service and wreath-laying is planned for 7 p.m. Monday at the Community Building and fire station on Broad Creek Road by Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department.

Building of the 9/11 Memorial was a community effort as volunteers from Fairfield Harbour and members of the fire department came together to design, plan and construct the memorial. The memorial includes actual girders from the World Trade Center. The transportation to New Jersey to bring the girders back to Fairfield Harbour was led by Marshal Van Winkle of Bridgeton. Fairfield Harbour resident and architect, Betsy Conzelman, provided the 9/11 Memorial design.
