FHYC September 2017 Happenings

Fall is an invigorating time to boat in Eastern NC. Here are some of the latest Fairfield Harbour Yacht Club scheduled events:

Ocracoke Cruise: Saturday, September 23 to Saturday, September 30

The fall boat cruise to Ocracoke is a delight on this charming island. Explore the beaches, enjoy the restaurants and entertainment or have a trip over to Portsmouth, the only ghost town on the East Coast of the United States.

Cruiser will leave Fairfield Harbour on Saturday, September 23, gathering in either Lower Broad Creek or South River, depending on the winds, weather and group consensus. On Sunday morning, the fleet sets sail for Ocracoke, arriving mid to late afternoon. For accommodations, the Federal Docks are the best bargain and part of the NC Federal Park System. The alternative is to anchor out in Silver Lake or to go to the few other commercial docks available.

Sunfish and Dinghy Races September 17, 24 and October 8, 15, 22

The final races of the 2017 series resume in September. In addition to the Sunfish, all other sailing dinghies/tenders 13 feet and under are welcome and encouraged to participate. Races will be held in the safety of Northwest Creek waters in the vicinity of the mouth of Spring Creek.

Trivia Night

A popular Yacht Club event is Trivia Night held on Wednesday, September 20, beginning at 1730 at the Community Center. Test your knowledge of all things nautical! With a limit of 72 people this year, you don’t want to miss out on all the great food and fun. Reservations required.

Visit www.fairfieldharbouryacht.club/fhyc for more information on the events or joining the Yacht Club.
