Garden Club showcases unusual plants.

• ​The February program was “Luffa: A Plant for all Seasons.” Members learned that luffa (also known as loofah) is not just a scrub for the bath. Luffa is a genus of tropical and subtropical vines in the cucumber family. The plant can be cultivated and eaten as a vegetable at a young age and is very popular in China and Vietnam. When the plant is fully ripened, it is fibrous and is the source of the loofah scrubbing sponge.

• The March meeting will be Monday, March 13, at 9:30 am in the Community Center. A program on Zen Gardening Design will be presented by Susan Broderick, President of the Craven County Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Association, Inc.

• The Spring Garden Club bus trip will be Monday, May 1, to the Cape Fear Botanical Gardens in Fayetteville, NC.
