Some of the active and multi-talented residents of FH sink putts on Harbour Pointe Golf Course, some boat and sail on the Neuse River, and many are mighty fine musicians and entertainers. Singers don’t have to leave the confines of Fairfield to join a chorus of 70 male and female voices with resident, Mr. Terry Knickerbocker directing. Practicing tunes from the American Songbook weekly to perform spring and winter concerts, the FH Chorus is a fun-loving group that never sings to an empty house. Local vocalists who enjoy singing sacred music will perform New Bern’s 35th annual performance of Handel’s Messiah in December. Not quite sure if your voice measures up? Give karaoke a try with Tom and Little Dahlin’ when they perform at Sunset/Sunrise Grill overlooking the marina in Fairfield Harbour. If 4-part harmony appeals to your listening ear, there is the Southern Gentlemen Barbershop Chorus in concert annually and performing all around town doing Singing Valentines each February.

Ageless in appeal is jazz with Harbourites Don Gleeson, Don Phillips and Bob Dumon playing in local nightclubs. Our very own Down East Dulcimer group gives Blue Grass concerts as well as Celtic-style music concerts. Instrumentalists can join several community bands and/or the New Bern Civic Strings. For the classical music lovers, why not try playing Baroque with the Croatan Consort ensemble? FH Flutist Denton Dodd performs with the Pamlico Flutes for social events. Want to meet a New Bern church pianist or organist? Come to Fairfield Harbour; there are several living here.
