ARTcrawl and ArtWalk

ARTcrawl is a monthly arts festival held in New Bern's Downtown Historic District. Downtown art galleries, restaurants and other participating merchants stay open for extended hours and sponsor special events every second Friday of the month! Participating venues throughout Historic Downtown New Bern. FREE & Open to the Public!

Pottery Throwdown 2017

January 13, 2017, 5:00pm - 8:00pm

Come watch 7 local potters work to make as many bowls as they can in 3 hours. Learn about throwing pottery on the wheel, and the upcoming Empty bowls event the dishes will be used for.

Behind the Scenes at Tryon Palace: Costume Shop

Tuesday, January 24, 2017, 2:00pm.

Tryon Palace Waystation (Tour Begins & Ends), 610 Pollock Street, New Bern, NC 28560

Tryon Palace historic clothing interpreter Leslie Lambrecht will lead a tour of the historic Jones House with a brief description of the house and then through the Tryon Palace Costume Shop on the first floor of the house. The costumer will discuss historical clothing research, the sewing techniques used in the past, and current projects for upcoming events.

WinterFeast: Oysters, Brews, and Comfort Foods

Friday, January 27, 2017, 5:30pm - 8:30pm

Bate Commons, Mattocks Hall, NC History Center, 529 South Front Street, New Bern, NC

Shuck your winter shell as Tryon Palace’s WinterFeast oyster roast returns to the North Carolina History Center in 2017. Dive into a table full of fresh, local, steamed oysters, sample classic winter favorites like chowders, shrimp and grits, and jambalaya prepared by your favorite local chefs, and wash it down with a selection of delicious brews while enjoying a night out with friends and neighbors. This indoor/outdoor event includes a cash bar and will be held at the North Carolina History Center (529 South Front St., New Bern, NC), where you can dance along to the DJ’s music, play a game of cornhole, or simply enjoy the view.
