20th Annual Fairfield Harbour Parade Kicks off the Holiday Season

With fire engine horns blaring, Coast Guard Auxiliary marching and the West Craven High School Eagles Band performing, the Fairfield Harbour 20th Annual Christmas Parade kicked off on Sunday, December 4, 2016. With 26 ingenious and creative entries, the parade streamed down Pelican Drive to Red Sail Park strutting their stuff to the theme of their organization. The parade featured the Pickleball Group playing a live game, Fairfield Harbour Yacht Club with decorated boats, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Fishing Club with a huge fish on the car top, nine sports cars, eight antique autos and many others. Santa pulled up the rear in his big red fire engine. And yes, lots of candy was thrown to the spectators as they lined the streets cheering on the parade.

The highest honor of Grand Marshal was bestowed upon Waldeane Giacobbe, long time Fairfield Harbour resident who managed the parade for the past 17 years.

The parade culminated at Red Sail Park where the festivities continued as the parade committee organized crock pots of homemade chili, soups, and scrumptious desserts donated by the generous efforts of Fairfield Harbour neighbors. Hot dogs and wings were supplied by Sunset Grill. Money collected was donated to the West Craven Marching Eagles from West Craven High School. MCs Ann Simpson and Joe Schulties presided over the parade from the Shoreline parking lot. The parade was taped by Suddenlink Cable Channel 10 and will broadcast on Saturdays at 3pm and 8pm, and Sundays 3pm and 8pm until 12/25/2016. See the full Vimeo link below.

The Fairfield Harbour Christmas Parade was sponsored by the Fairfield Harbour Property Owners Association and The Fairfield Harbour Co-operative Business Council.
