Fairfield Harbour PickleBall courts are complete and open for play!

The PickleBall group hosted an Open House on Sunday afternoon October 2 from 2-4pm at the "Courts on Port" to showcase the courts, offer some refreshments and demonstrate the game. Many left with not only a cookie and lemonade but with an interest and enthusiasm for a great sport that is sweeping the country.

If you have questions or would like to be on the mailing list, send an e-mail to fhpickleball@googlegroups.com. Regular play is Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at 9:00am. Beginners meet on Wednesday and Saturday, pickup games and practice can be arranged anytime. We maintain a Pickle Jar fee of $1/week for the purchase of balls.

The courts are locked to prevent vandalism. The combination is available by calling the POA office.

Several players competed in the state level round of the Senior Games in Concord NC. Congratulations to Carol Frysiek and her partner from New Bern who qualified to go on to Nationals in Alabama in 2017 in ladies doubles.

Thank you to Paul Fenn for his tireless and relentless campaigning for these courts. Along with Wayne Pearson, he built five eight-foot wooden benches with POA supplied lumber. Paul was the parking lot line painter. Contractor and player Rick Wheaton donated and laid an entry pad made with concrete pavers, as well as supplying a storage container. Ray Morrone donated a patio umbrella, and Kenny Pett donated lawn chairs. Diane McKillop and others agreed to store extra paddles. Thank you to the Fairfield Harbour POA board, especially to Ann Simpson, POA president and our liaison Jim Cline, who agreed to fund the biggest new amenity in Fairfield since Red Sail Park. We appreciate Carol Frysiek's work as the contact between the board and the PickleBall group. We would also like to acknowledge Court One as the contractor for the courts.
